USSF Soccer Overview & Certification

The United States Soccer Federation (USSF) is the governing body of soccer in all its forms across the country, most commonly recognized as ‘club’ or ‘state league’ soccer. In Alabama, youth leagues kick off in late January for spring and mid-August for fall, with a busy summer tournament schedule that offers nearly year-round opportunities to referee.

Before stepping onto the field, all referees must complete certification and pass a background check to ensure they’re equipped with the latest knowledge and prepared to uphold the highest standards of the game.
